Class sessions are devoted to intense study, discussion and application of the following curriculum components:

Leadership Styles and Challenges
Explore the critical differences between leadership and management, the characteristics of leadership styles, dynamics of organizational culture and personal skills and attributes.

Leading with Vision
Apply knowledge of leadership styles; examine attributes of effective leadership, visioning and developing a shared vision.

 

Communication and Leadership
Apply articulation of your project vision and personal motivations. Understand communication modes and power, word choice and impact, communication planning and factors that effect communications.

 

Building Leadership Capacity
Apply developing a communications plan and techniques to impact delivering your project vision. Critically review the forms of power as they relate to trust development, capacity-building and risk tolerance. Engage personal ability to use lateral thinking techniques.

 

Effective Group Leadership
Apply your delivery of project vision, implementing your communications plan, using lateral thinking techniques and defining personal terminology. Practice using a variety of group process tools to increase input and buy-in.

 

Systems Thinking
Apply communications skills and systems thinking to company project. Learn to clarify thinking and
goal setting, using systems thinking to determine potential need for coaching, mentoring and teaming and how to handle difficult people.

Five other components are critical to the curriculum:

  • A work-related project though which learning is explored and applied on the job.
  • 360 assessments of the participant's current leadership traits and abilities.
  • Self-evaluation that includes completion of numerous self-assessment inventories.
  • Homework that applies topics covered in each session to project.
  • Weekly online discussion questions and learning awareness submissions.
